Medical Services
Wellness Exams and Preventative Vaccinations
The best medicine for your pet is preventative medicine. Since all aspects of your pet's life affect his or her health, we want to help you with more than vaccinations, tests for parasites, and an annual exam. We talk to you about your pet's dental needs, proper exercise and training, the best diet available for your pet's age and condition, and various techniques for correcting behavior problems. We encourage you to participate in health care decisions. The veterinarians and staff at Kenwood Animal Hospital offer preventive care that is essential to the development and long-term health of your pet.
Medical Care
Kenwood Animal Hospital is a well-equipped modern veterinary hospital. In order to diagnose your pet's illness, we have some of the finest and advanced instruments and techniques available. Our in-house laboratory expedites diagnosis and treatment with a wide range of test results, including blood chemistry panels, blood cell counts and fecal and urine analysis.
Nutritional Counseling
We carry the complete line of Waltham/Royal Canin prescription diet foods. Purina and Hill's veterinary prescription diets are available by special order. Please check with our veterinarians for information regarding your pets nutritional needs.
Behavior Counseling - If your cat or dog exhibits a behavioral concern, the veterinarians at Kenwood Animal Hospital conduct examinations to assess all possible contributing factors in relation to the problem. A behavior modification program may be suggested in order to meet the needs of the client and their pet. Each client and concern is treated on an individual basis.
Transportation Services – Kenwood Animal Hospital offers a Pet Pick-Up and Delivery Service as well as a Medication Delivery Service. Please call the hospital if you are interested in our transportation service.

Surgical Services
Surgery – Surgeries are performed using the most current and safest anesthetics available. Our surgeon, Dr. Lynn Shmorhun, performs a variety of surgical procedures every Tuesday and Thursday. Before each procedure the doctors and surgical assistants will examine your pet thoroughly and run diagnostic tests to detect any irregularities before they become serious problems. An in-house laboratory allows us to evaluate the patient the same day prior to surgery.
Dental Care - Dentistry
Through advanced training, experience and specialized equipment, we are able to offer comprehensive dental care for your pet. We believe preventative care is the best approach for long-term oral health. Our hospital is well equipped to provide dental care services to insure your pet receives proper oral health care.
Grooming
Grooming - Our groomer, Reuben, is trained to groom purebred and mixed-breed dogs and cats. Daily appointments are available but make sure to schedule in advance! Please feel free to speak to our groomers directly if a particular cut is required. Regular baths by our technical staff are also available by appointment. Some Home Grooming Tips for your Dog
Boarding
Kenwood Animal Hospital offers regular and medical boarding for your pets. Our facility
offers separate boarding for cats and dogs. Short-term dog boarding is available in indoor cages and runs and includes food, bedding, and two walks outside per day. You can even supplement your dog’s boarding experience by adding playdates (available in 2 hour increments, up to a full day) in our Doggy Daycare facility, Kenwood Canine Clubhouse. Expandable cat condos in a sun-filled suite allow a cat to occupy up to 4 cages at one time! Cats can be exercised daily, and enjoy a close-up view of our active wild bird feeder. The same veterinary assistants who care for the hospitalized animals also care for our boarding kennel guests. Assistants are trained to recognize changes in your pet's appetite and attitude, and they work hard to keep pets clean and comfortable. Medical and "Special Care" boarding is available for pets that require additional care. All boarding reservations for boarding should be made well in advance. You are invited to Take a tour of our recently expanded facilities.

Pet Identification and Microchip System - A microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is implanted beneath a pet's skin between the shoulder blades, and stays there for the pet's entire life. This procedure is as easy and as painless as a vaccination.
Each microchip has a unique number. This number, along with information about the owner and pet, are added to a national pet registry. Most veterinarians and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found, and the microchip is scanned, the registry is called and the owner is contacted.
We use "Home Again" microchip system, which is recognized nationwide. For Complete Information on the HomeAgain Microchip System, Please Click Here.
