Kenwood Animal Hospital offers separate boarding for cats and dogs.
Cats are exercised daily within their sun-filled suite, and entertained by a variety of toys and picture windows.
Short-term dog boarding is available in indoor cages and includes two leashed walks outside per day. We also offer the following add-on services (available at additional fee):
- Additional outdoor walks (up to 2 extra)
- Doggy Daycare, with 2 hour *playdates*, to allow your dog to work out some energy and supplement daily walks (6 hour playdates are also available on non-holiday weekdays)
- Medical or *Special Care* boarding services for pets with specific health or other special needs
- Individual *Board and Train* services- for dogs staying with us for longer than a week, our trainer will ensure that you come home to a better behaved pet!
- Routine baths ~by request~ (for our canine boarders only- we do not recommend/offer this service for cats) so that your pup comes home clean and refreshed.

Boarding Vaccination Requirements
Proof of the following vaccinations is required when boarding your pet(s) at Kenwood Animal Hospital:
CATS
- Rabies
- Distemper (or Distemper-combo vaccine, such as FVRCP)
DOGS
- Rabies
- Distemper (or Distemper-combo vaccine, such as DHPV or DHLPP)
- Bordatella ("Kennel Cough")
- Recommend: Canine Influenza (H1N1) series of 2 vaccines, administered 3 weeks apart

Check-In Time!
You will be asked to complete a boarding instruction form at each visit. This form may also be downloaded to complete at home ahead ahead of time. Boarding Form
If you will be having an agent drop your pet(s) off, please be sure to send a completed boarding form with them, or provide them with other detailed care instructions for your pet as well as a note (signed/dated by you) designating that you authorize them to provide all care instructions, including emergency treatment authorization.
If you plan to have an agent retrieve your pet(s) from boarding, please be sure to advise us of such, and we would be happy to help coordinate payment options with you directly in order to expedite pickup.
Please note that Kenwood Animal Hospital does not have on-site overnight staffing. The Hospital, Doggy Daycare and Boarding facilities are not open to the public on Sundays. Staff does not retrieve voicemail messages, and is not permitted to admit or discharge patients on Sundays under any circumstances.
Doggy Daycare Boarder Playdates
First time trial of Doggy Daycare is free!
All dogs are evaluated for temperament and sociability, to be sure that they're a good fit for the playgroup, and that they will benefit from the exercise and experience. All dogs over 6 months of age must be spayed/neutered in order to participate in group play.
Supervised Playdates are available in increments of 2 hours ($12/daily session) or 6 hours ($36/daily session). Daycare packages may also be applied toward boarding playdates.
Daycare is available for boarders every day of the week; However weekend and Holiday Daycare sessions consist of 2 hour playgroups ONLY.
Medical or Special Care boarders may be evaluated by staff and allowed to participate in Daycare on a case-by-case basis.
WHAT TO BRING
Please make sure to label all items with PET'S name and LAST NAME
DO BRING
- Vaccine and any other pertinent medical records (if performed elsewhere).
- Your pet's regular food (and treats!) if they are on a special or prescription diet, have any food sensitivities, or might otherwise do best with their own food. Otherwise we feed a standard diet (bland low residue diet for dogs, chicken and rice diet for cats- both available in canned or dry formulation). Royal Canin prescription diets are also available for purchase.
- Your own harness, and advise us whether your dog requires harness walks ONLY. Also, please let us know whether your dog is used to having the harness on at all times, or if it should be removed between walks.
- Your pet's medications and/or supplements as well as instructions on how these are to be administered during their boarding stay.
- A well loved toy, but preferably not your pet's favorite, as it may be misplaced during daily bedding changes. Anything that smells like home, such as a worn t-shirt, can be comforting for your companion while they're away from their home and people!
PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BRINGING
- Pet beds, pillows or favorite blankets. We have a bounty of comfy bedding, and using our own will prevent your favorites from being misplaced in the laundry during daily bedding changes.
- Rawhides, Greenies or other chewy treats as these could be a potential choking hazard.
- Bowls- we have stainless steel bowls available that we sterilize between uses.
While we ask that you bring your cats in carriers, and your dogs on leashes, we WILL remove these and send them home with you, to be brought back when you pick up.
We use our own identification collars and leashes during boarding. Dogs are on leash at all times during walks.

BATHS ARE AVAILABLE ON WEEKDAYS. IF YOU ARE PICKING UP SAME DAY, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOUR PET WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER 2PM, UNLESS OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED
We request that you drop your pet(s) off for boarding at least 1hour prior to closing so that we can them settled in for the night.
